These Dog Breeds Will Affect Your Homeowners Insurance

Your homeowners insurance agent will care if you own one of these dog breeds. You love your dog, and he or she is probably as much as part of the family as any human member at this point. So it makes sense that in the same way your homeowners insurance agent needs to know about your family members, he or she needs to know about your dog. Why? Dogs present a liability. Even the most docile dog can act out of character and bite someone if he or she feels particularly threatened. Luckily, not all dogs will take a bite out of your homeowners insurance options, but here are a few dog breeds that could make it harder to get coverage. Chow chows Doberman pinschers Akitas Presa Canarios German shepherds Rottweilers Siberian huskies Pit bull terriers Alaskan malamutes If you own one of these dogs, some insurance providers might decline coverage. If you have a difficult time insuring your house because of your dog, know that you can always get a separate dog owner liability insurance policy. Questions To Ask Your Life Insurance Agent

Questions To Ask Your Life Insurance AgentTalk to your life insurance agent about these questions before you buy a policy.

When you buy a life insurance policy, you do so to protect your loved ones. It’s important, then, that you work with a life insurance agent who understands—and supports—that goal. To help you find the right life insurance agent, ask these questions.

  • How do I reach you? Ask your agent about his or her preferred means of communication (e.g. email, phone, text) and make sure it matches yours. Also, ask how regularly he or she will be in touch. A good agent should have a habit of reaching out to evaluate and update your policy.
  • What does this mean? If there’s a question of your policy that’s confusing, ask your agent to explain it. He or she should be able to do so in a way that gives your complete clarity.
  • Are you an independent agent? To make sure your family has the policy options it needs, work with an independent agent—who works with multiple providers—rather than a captive agent who will only show you coverage options from one provider.

If you’re ready to sit down with an agent dedicated to helping you get a great life insurance policy paired with great service, contact Miller Insurance Associates in Carlisle, Pennsylvania today!

So you can enjoy your Labor Day weekend with your family without worry, here are a few safety tips for you to use.

  • Plan Ahead: Traffic is likely to pick up over the holiday weekend, so make sure you leave with plenty of travel time and consider taking side streets and alternate routes to get to your destination. If you’ll be celebrating the holiday with drinks, name a designated driver in advance.
  • Supervise: Wherever your kids are playing over the weekend, make sure you or someone else is keeping an eye on them. This is especially important in the pool and near a hot grill.
  • Be Prepared: Speaking of grilling, make sure you’re equipped for a flare-up by keeping a spray bottle of water and fire extinguisher nearby. The water can douse a small flame without ruining dinner.
